These sequencers bundle transactions and post a summary to the Ethereum mainnet, assuming all are valid. Verifiers can monitor these submissions and challenge any they believe to be incorrect through a process called fraud proving.

A user's transaction is first submitted to the sequencer on the Optimism network for immediate confirmation. The sequencer then compresses many transactions into a single batch and submits it to the Ethereum blockchain. After submission, there is a challenge window where the transaction batch can be disputed if fraudulent activity is detected.
