Cardano is a decentralized, public blockchain and cryptocurrency project, categorized as a layer-1 smart contract platform. Comment fonctionne Cardano ?

Cardano secures its network using a proof-of-stake consensus protocol named Ouroboros. Unlike proof-of-work systems that require significant computational power, Ouroboros selects participants to create new blocks based on their stake, which is the amount of ADA they hold. This process is divided into epochs and slots, where a slot leader is chosen for each slot to produce a block, ensuring a consistent and secure transaction validation process.

The network is maintained by a global community of participants, primarily consisting of stake pool operators and delegators. Stake pool operators are responsible for running the nodes that validate transactions and produce new blocks on the blockchain. ADA holders, known as delegators, can participate in securing the network by delegating their stake to a chosen pool, earning rewards in return without needing to run their own node.

When a user initiates a transaction, it is broadcast to the network for validation by the nodes. A selected slot leader includes the transaction in a new block and adds it to the Cardano blockchain. Once the block is confirmed by the network, the transaction is considered final and immutably recorded, completing the settlement process in a secure and decentralized manner.

The native cryptocurrency of the Cardano network is ADA, which is used for transactions and participating in the network's governance. The tokenomics of ADA are defined by a fixed maximum supply, which is capped at 45 billion tokens. As of recent data, the circulating supply is approximately 36.38 billion ADA. New ADA tokens are introduced into the circulating supply as rewards for participants in its proof-of-stake consensus mechanism.
