Qu'est-ce que Cardano ?
Cardano is a decentralized, public blockchain and cryptocurrency project, categorized as a layer-1 smart contract platform. Launched in 2017 by co-founders Charles Hoskinson and Jeremy Wood, it was developed with a research-first approach. The network operates on a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism known as Ouroboros, which is designed to be a more energy-efficient alternative to proof-of-work systems. Its primary function is to enable the development of decentralized applications and smart contracts on its platform. Cardano's development is guided by a philosophy of academic peer review and a focus on creating a scalable, sustainable, and interoperable blockchain ecosystem.
Comment fonctionne Cardano ?
Cardano secures its network using a proof-of-stake consensus protocol named Ouroboros. Unlike proof-of-work systems that require significant computational power, Ouroboros selects participants to create new blocks based on their stake, which is the amount of ADA they hold. This process is divided into epochs and slots, where a slot leader is chosen for each slot to produce a block, ensuring a consistent and secure transaction validation process.
The network is maintained by a global community of participants, primarily consisting of stake pool operators and delegators. Stake pool operators are responsible for running the nodes that validate transactions and produce new blocks on the blockchain. ADA holders, known as delegators, can participate in securing the network by delegating their stake to a chosen pool, earning rewards in return without needing to run their own node.
When a user initiates a transaction, it is broadcast to the network for validation by the nodes. A selected slot leader includes the transaction in a new block and adds it to the Cardano blockchain. Once the block is confirmed by the network, the transaction is considered final and immutably recorded, completing the settlement process in a secure and decentralized manner.
Cas d'utilisation de Cardano
Cardano is a versatile blockchain platform designed to support a range of applications and services. Its architecture enables developers to build complex solutions that require security, scalability, and sustainability.
- Smart contracts: The platform allows for the creation and execution of self-enforcing contracts, which automate agreements and processes for decentralized applications.
- DeFi: Cardano supports a growing ecosystem of decentralized finance applications, including lending, borrowing, and trading platforms built on its secure infrastructure.
- Digital identity: The technology can be used to create and manage decentralized identity solutions, giving individuals more control over their personal data.
- Token issuance: Users and projects can create custom native tokens on the Cardano blockchain for various purposes, including utility tokens and asset representation.
Tokenomics de Cardano
The native cryptocurrency of the Cardano network is ADA, which is used for transactions and participating in the network's governance. The tokenomics of ADA are defined by a fixed maximum supply, which is capped at 45 billion tokens. This fixed cap means that no more than 45 billion ADA can ever be created, establishing a clear limit on the total supply. As of recent data, the circulating supply is approximately 36.38 billion ADA. New ADA tokens are introduced into the circulating supply as rewards for participants in its proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. This system distributes rewards to stake pool operators and delegators for their role in securing the network and validating transactions.
