For transaction finality within the shards, it uses a practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (pBFT) protocol.

The network's participants are organized into smaller consensus groups known as shards. Each shard contains a portion of the network's nodes and can process a fraction of the total transactions independently. This parallel processing capability is fundamental to the platform's design for scalability and efficiency.

When a user submits a transaction, it is assigned to a specific shard for validation. The nodes within that shard reach a consensus on the transaction's validity through the pBFT mechanism. After processing, the results from all shards are aggregated and recorded on the main Zilliqa blockchain.

New tokens are introduced into the ecosystem as rewards for the nodes that participate in the consensus process and secure the network.
