The key participants in the Litecoin network are miners, who dedicate computing power to solve these puzzles. In return for their work, miners are rewarded with newly created LTC and transaction fees from the blocks they successfully add. These miners also operate nodes, which store a copy of the entire blockchain and enforce the network's rules.

When a user sends LTC, the transaction is broadcast to the network and collected into a pool of unconfirmed transactions. Miners select transactions from this pool to include in a new block they are attempting to solve. Once a block is solved and added to the chain, the transactions within it are considered confirmed and the transfer is complete.

This fixed supply and predictable issuance schedule create a deflationary model over the long term.
