O que é XRP?

XRP is a digital asset native to the XRP Ledger, a decentralized, public blockchain designed for fast and low-cost payments. Como funciona XRP?

The XRP Ledger operates on a consensus mechanism known as the XRP Ledger Consensus Protocol. Unlike Proof-of-Work systems that rely on mining, this protocol uses a network of independent servers called validators to agree on the order and outcome of transactions. This approach is designed to confirm transactions in a few seconds, making the process efficient.

Participants in the network are primarily these validators, which maintain the integrity of the ledger. Validators are responsible for broadcasting, validating, and bundling transactions into ledger versions for confirmation. The network does not provide block rewards or staking incentives; validators are typically run by businesses and individuals with an interest in the network's stability.

When a transaction is submitted, it is sent to the network's validators for processing. These validators vote on the validity of transaction sets until a supermajority of at least 80% reaches an agreement. Once consensus is achieved, the new ledger is cryptographically secured and added to the blockchain as a permanent record.
