Participants in the network are divided into two main groups: storage node operators and uplink clients. Storage node operators are individuals or organizations that rent out their unused disk space and bandwidth to the network. Uplink clients are the users or applications that store their data on the network, paying for the service.

When a client uploads a file, it is first encrypted on the client's device for privacy. The encrypted file is then split into smaller fragments, which are distributed and stored across multiple, geographically dispersed nodes. To retrieve the file, the client's software gathers these fragments from the nodes and reassembles them into the original file.
