Wie funktioniert Chainlink?

Chainlink operates as a decentralized network of nodes that provide data from off-chain sources to on-chain smart contracts. The system uses a reputation and staking framework to incentivize nodes to provide accurate data. This model ensures that data feeds are reliable and resistant to manipulation by a single party.

The network consists of independent oracle node operators who retrieve, validate, and deliver data to smart contracts. These operators are compensated in LINK tokens for their services, creating a competitive market for data provision. To participate, node operators must stake LINK tokens as collateral, which can be forfeited if they provide faulty data.

A smart contract initiates a data request, which is broadcast to the Chainlink network for fulfillment. Multiple nodes fetch the requested data from various external sources and report it back to an aggregating contract. This contract then validates and aggregates the responses to produce a single, trusted data point for the requesting smart contract.

The tokenomics of Chainlink's native token, LINK, are defined by a fixed maximum supply. The total number of LINK tokens that can ever be created is capped at 1,000,000,000. This fixed supply model means that no new tokens can be minted beyond this limit. LINK is an ERC-677 token, which is used to pay for services on the network, such as data retrieval and smart contract automation. Node operators are compensated in LINK for providing these oracle services. The circulating supply is 727,099,970.425548 LINK. Operators also stake LINK as collateral to ensure data accuracy, aligning their incentives with the overall health of the network.
