Dai (DAI) is a crypto-collateralized stablecoin designed to maintain a value closely pegged to the U.S. dollar. Unlike centrally issued stablecoins, Dai is generated when users deposit approved cryptocurrency collateral into smart contracts known as Maker Vaults. As an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, it relies on Ethereum's security and consensus mechanism for transaction validation. Users generate Dai by locking collateral in Maker Vaults, while the MakerDAO community governs the system's parameters. Ethereum validators are responsible for processing and confirming all Dai transactions on the blockchain, ensuring the integrity of the public ledger.

A typical Dai transaction begins when a user initiates a transfer from their wallet, which is then broadcast to the Ethereum network. Validators include this transaction in a new block, which is subsequently validated and added to the chain through the PoS consensus process. Once the block is finalized, the transfer of Dai is considered complete and irreversible, updating the balances in the respective wallets.
